John Blackwell was born on September 9, 1973, and passed away on July 4, 2017. John was raised in Columbia, South Carolina. He started playing drums when he was only three years old. It is no surprise that he chose this path, considering that his father, John Blackwell Sr, was a drummer too. The father played with known musicians like Mary Wells, King Curtis, Joe Simon, J.J Jackson, etc.
